How anyone can make a connection between this West Coast operation and an 8 year-old kid humming incoherently in the UK is beyond me. The soundtrack to the show was done by La-La Land Records-out of Burbank, California. The cartoon was produced in California, when the 8 year-old Mark Ronson was in England. That's even less credible than Lipton's possible authorship. (Jules Bass, it goes without saying, was one of the heads of Rankin-Bass productions, the company that makes all those claymation Christmas specials, as well as 'The Thundercats'.) See here:

I also saw the source that said that James Lipton wrote the 'Thundercats' theme song, but the problem is: It's not on his Internet Movie Database rГ©sumГ© and, on the official sources, the theme is credited to Jules Bass and Bernard Hoffer.
